Jennifer Coolidge’s reaction to the Emmys cutting off her speech is hilarious

When Jennifer Coolidge talks, you pay attention – unless the Emmys don’t. The Legally Blonde star received her first Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series for her role as Tanya McQuoid in The White Lotus, and then delivered the most hilarious acceptance speech. The orchestra cut her off before she could finish, ignoring her screams of “wait, hang on,” and infuriating Twitter. In true Coolidge manner, she saved the moment by giving up and dancing to the music, which made the audience laugh.

“Hey, hi. Thank you so much. Gosh. What a night,” Coolidge exclaimed from the stage. “I just want to say to my fellow candidates, it’s fantastic just to be in your company.” Coolidge won in a category dominated by her White Lotus co-stars, which included Connie Britton, Sydney Sweeney, Natasha Rothwell, and Alexandra Daddario. The only nominees who did not appear in the HBO series were Dopesick’s Kaitlyn Dever and Mare Winningham.

Coolidge then told a story about a self-care treatment gone wrong before the ceremony. “I took a lavender bath tonight immediately before the show, and it made me swell up inside my dress, and I’m having trouble speaking,” she explained. The play-off music began to get louder before she completed thanking her list of guests. “This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and I’m full, full, full,” she remarked. The music, on the other hand, didn’t stop, which enraged Twitter and created some hilarious memes.

Paulette would be overjoyed.
