Dale Bentley, 39, claims he has no recollection of the dance.
Bentley was stopped by police in Gahanna, Ohio, early Sunday morning after spending a few hours at a local pub. Bentley, who was friendly and outgoing, was caught on the dash camera of the police car failing a sobriety test.
“I’m going to get arrested regardless,” he informed one of the cops on the scene before breaking into a little hip-shaking dance. “Man, if you need me to make your work easier, I’ll be like, who, what?”
According to the Columbus Dispatch, police were not amused by the incident and were simply relieved to get Bentley off the road. When reached his house, Bentley refused to talk, although he did tell a Dispatch reporter that he didn’t recall the dance.
A clip from the comedy program Reno 911 went viral as if it were genuine a few years ago, depicting a police officer forcing a driver to do dance steps on the side of the road. “Are you a dancer?” she inquired. “No, I’m just intoxicated,” he explained, prompting the character’s arrest.
