‘This woman charges her family for Christmas dinner, and if they do not pay in advance, they are not invited.’

A woman sparked a heated debate after revealing that she charges her family members for Christmas dinner. Caroline Duddridge, 63, is hosting her family’s Christmas dinner for the sixth year in a row.

The family gathering, on the other hand, has a cost for everyone who wants to eat at her table, not just the grandmother. Caroline said she wants to teach her children a «crucial lesson» in financial responsibility by making them pay for their Christmas dinners.

She went on to say that her sons are charged nearly $20 per person, whereas her daughters receive a small discount due to their greater family responsibilities. Caroline also charges around $7 per grandchild over the age of five, with the fee remaining at $3 per grandchild under the age of five.

«Every November, I check my bank account to see who paid for their Christmas dinner. «You’re not coming unless you pay by December 1st,» she said in an interview with BBC 5 Live.

«The dinner price I charge includes electricity. It’s a no-brainer for me… it’s the only way to go.» Caroline involves her children in the decision-making process for what foods and beverages will be served at Christmas dinner because they must pay her before she cooks.

The widow insisted that sharing Christmas dinner expenses is best for everyone involved in defending her decision, which she claimed was forced upon her after her expendable income was cut in half.

“Obviously, there were a few moans and grumbles about ‘I’ve got a few children,’ but at the end of the day, that’s not really my problem, is it?” she continued. What are your thoughts on the subject?
