On March 8th, 2024, an incredibly intense incident took place in Whitethorn, CA, involving a small aircraft crash that had the potential for a devastating outcome. Fortunately, with the prompt assistance of various emergency agencies and a stroke of good fortune, all three individuals, including a 2-year-old child, were able to escape with only minor cuts and scratches.

At approximately 1:15 PM, the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) was alerted to a distress call regarding a potential airplane crash near Usal Road. Deputies quickly responded to the situation, receiving support from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, the California Highway Patrol, CalFire, Southern Humboldt Tech Rescue, and several local fire departments.

As the responders arrived at the crash site, they were greeted with a surprising sight — the wreckage hidden among the trees. But what came next was beyond anyone’s imagination.
